Odoo includes a Stripe payment provider for online quotes, invoices and eCommerce, and it covers most needs out of the box. When your sales process doesn't fit the standard flow, such as deposits, payments authorized now and captured later for a different amount, or multi-step bookings, we extend it.
What standard Odoo already does
- Card payments on online quotes, invoices and eCommerce checkout, with express checkout.

When a custom module is needed
- Capturing less than the authorized amount (partial capture), which the standard Stripe provider does not support.
- Multi-step flows, such as quote, booking, deposit, then final payment.
- Services delivered later than the authorization lasts: Stripe cancels uncaptured card payments after 7 days by default.
- Incomplete transactions left behind by abandoned checkouts.

- Map your payment moments. Deposit, balance, changes, cancellations and refunds.
- Configure the standard provider. Wherever Odoo's Stripe provider already fits, we use it as is.
- Extend only where needed. Custom work stays within Odoo's payment framework, so it survives upgrades.
- Test every path. Each scenario is tested in Stripe's test mode before going live.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need a custom module to use Stripe with Odoo?
No. For standard online payments, Odoo's Stripe provider is enough, and we simply configure it. Custom work is only needed for flows like partial capture or multi-step bookings.
